The Detroit Red Wings announced on Tuesday that forward Tomas Jurco has been assigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins for conditioning.
Jurco, 22, has appeared in only four of the Red Wings’ 18 games this season, notching a lone assist. He has been a healthy scratch behind Joakim Andersson, Landon Ferraro, and most recently Andreas Athanasiou.
Selected by Detroit in the second round (35th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Jurco has appeared in 103 career games with the Red Wings, scoring 11 goals and 23 assists for 34 points. In 106 career AHL games with the Griffins, he scored 27 goals and 33 assists for 60 points.
Jurco’s conditioning assignment cannot extend for more than 14 days. The Griffins play six times in that span.
