  1. I’m anxious so I’ll start the Game Five thread…

Is anyone else looking at their watch/clock every few minutes to check how much time is left before the game? Just me? Figures.

We’ll see if Joseph is worth the paycheck now. Another rumored lineup change is Devereaux benched again with Dandenault taking his spot on the forward lines and Woolley making his first appearance of the playoffs. I like this move, if it happens. I also wouldn’t mind going back to the Game 1-3 lineup, kind of showing Nashville that the Wings don’t have to make any adjustments to beat them.

  2. Yeah, we’re family-friendly around here. But that doesn’t mean people can go out and find things that the board won’t censor.

I hadn’t thought about the Preds giving the Wings something to focus on, but it makes sense. I guess that means we can thank the media for making a big deal out of all of the talk.

  3. Ahh, that was much better. Played the Preds physically and lit up their mouthy goalie a bit.

  4. Hmm, maybe that means we should be trying to write articles full of sensationalism and trying to stir up controversy instead of trying to be as neutral and professional about things as a fan site can be…. nah, there’s enough of that in the “real” media.

Bob Wojnowski of the Detroit News has managed to get himself on my List Of People I Would Probably Smack If I Met, by writing such doom-and-gloom, end-of-the-world, see-I-told-you-so columns every time the Wings lose and then following up with I-knew-it-all-the-time articles every time the Wings win. His stir-up-trouble writing style, coupled with the insufferably smug photo they print next to his column, has forced me to add him to the List. He joins such luminaries as Marc Crawford, Todd Bertuzzi, and Gary Thorne. Mitch Albom of the Free Press can be nearly as bad at times, but he doesn’t seem to take himself so seriously, so he’s not on the List…. yet.

Speaking of Gary Thorne, I wonder how he and Bill Clement handled last night’s win, given their thinly veiled hatred of Detroit? Better yet, I wonder what old Barry “Sour Grapes” Melrose had to say about it? Always fun to see Barry and that skunk-looking thing he calls “hair” get flustered and try to stay semi-neutral during a Wings win. :flagcanada: Guess I’ll have to check an ESPN game tonight and see what he says during intermission, while thanking heaven for Fox Sports Net and CBC!

  5. Seems like the key to beating Detroit in the first round is to avoid p*ssing them off and giving them something to focus on. LA didn’t do anything to cause trouble in 2001. Vancouver just naturally p*sses everyone off, but in 2002, they started taking runs at Yzerman and trying to irritate Cheli, and incensed the whole team. Anaheim was very polite in 2003. And now some upstart goalie from Nashville is going to mouth off and act like he’s better than the Detroit Red Wings? Thanks for providing the team a focus for their anger, Vokoun!

BTW, I was checking my watch too. I’m sure my co-workers thought I was thoroughly annoying yesterday.

Edited to Add: Wow, I didn’t know the board would automatically censor the word “p*ss”!
