Detroit’s new entry in the Professional Women’s Hockey League announced it’s first big hire on Friday, with Manon Rheaume taking the team’s general manager position.
In the best hands 🙂↕️
We are proud to welcome Manon Rhéaume – two-time Women’s Worlds gold medalist, Olympic silver medalist, first woman to play in an NHL game AND first woman to sign a professional hockey contract – as our team’s first General Manager!

Rheaume returns to a familiar setting, as she spent eleven years with the Little Caesars AAA Hockey Club before leaving to join the Los Angeles Kings in a Hockey Operations role. She also served as an on-screen analyst for Detroit Red Wings coverage on Bally Sports Detroit for the 2021-2022 season.
PWHL Detroit has little time to get up and running, as the league’s expansion player dispersal process is expected to begin on May 28.
