The Red Wings beat the Dallas Stars (former Minnesota North Stars) on April 29, 1995, when they retired Sid Abel’s #12. Detroit raised Nicklas Lidstrom’s #5 against the Colorado Avalanche (former Quebec Nordiques) on March 6, 2014, before losing in overtime.
