Stupid Stat of the Day: The Red Wings are winless all-time in games played on Easter Sunday afternoon the day after a game against an Original Six opponent.

This has happened three times.

The first was in 1970 when the Red Wings tied the Bruins, 2-2, one day after visiting Boston (which also resulted in a tie, 5-5). It didn’t happen again until 2009, a 3-0 loss in Chicago the day after hosting the Blackhawks in a 4-2 loss. In 2022, Detroit dropped a 4-0 decision in New York against the Rangers before coming home for a 6-1 loss to the Florida Panthers.

There are five more cases where the Easter game was played in the evening, with Detroit 2-3-0 in those games.
