This has happened twice previously, both with the original iteration of the Jets. On March 15, 1992, the Red Wings tied Winnipeg, 1-1, before going on to visit the San Jose Sharks. On October 6, 1992, the Jets beat the Red Wings, 4-1, before Detroit went on to Los Angeles.
