  • Maybe I’m up past my bedtime so I just can’t remember properly but I thought there was a rule that says play is supposed to stop when the net is knocked off its moorings, not when the team that does the knocking gets control of the puck. This is the first time I can remember that I’ve seen the refs see the net knocked loose but wait to blow the whistle (this doesn’t count the times they didn’t notice that the net was off).

Waiting to blow the whistle led directly to the faceoff being in the Detroit zone and Vancouver being in position to score their third goal.

  • I’ve gotta at least give credit to the Vancouver fans. With just over 6 minutes left in the third, it was nice to hear them chanting “Go Canucks Go” or something like that. I’ve gotten used to opposition fans ignoring their own team and going with “Detroit sucks” (or similar chants).

ETA: WIth just over 5:00 left, the Wings showed exactly what’s gone wrong for them tonight. Wide open net and they just can’t control the damn puck. I’m amazed at the number of shots they’ve had, it seems like only about 3 have gotten through ’cause they just aren’t clicking at all.
