  • Whomever that ONE GUY was who was booing the Wings at the end of the Wednesday Boston game needs to be smacked. Hard. Maybe in the groin. The booing was totally uncalled for. It wasn’t for lack of effort that this game was lost. Considering the way this team has held it together through such a tumultuous season, and considering the weird bounces of this evening, the guy had no right to be booing. None whatsoever. What a total lack of class. What ignorance.

  • I hate to say it, but it wasn’t just one guy.  There were a lot of people there booing.  With about 5 minutes left, easily enough time for a 3-goal comeback, the arena was emptying pretty quickly.  With about 3 minutes left the booing started.  I’m ashamed to have been there.  Flyers fans boo their team.  Wings fans don’t.  The Wings didn’t put out a great effort but they also got some bad breaks.  Even if they had put out no effort, you don’t boo your team.

The Wings have been good for so long we’ve gotten spoiled.  They lost a game in the middle of the regular season against a non-conference opponent.  It’s not a big deal.  We don’t have a right to boo them.  Fans of the New York Rangers have a right to boo their team.  That team is consistantly mismanaged and players aren’t held accountable when they do “take a game off”.  They’ve dealt with 7 seasons of mediocrity, the Wings just had one game.

  • Speaking of fans. A few weeks ago my brother and I went to the Wings game in Chicago. (3-0 loss) Begin with screaming through-out the National Anthem. Not by coincidence we were surrounded by totally wasted A-holes screaming “Wings Suck! Wings Suck!” the entire game. Rather than yell out “25 points! 25 points! or pointing to the 1961 cup banner, we held our ground and avoided eye contact. At period break we walked the concorse and were met by more drunks bearing 8 foot banners with the same thoughtful exclaimation “Wings Suck!” etc. This wasn’t just a few morons. They were everywhere and itching for you to say something, anything. I suppose it’s the only thing they got going for them. Anyway we saw a crappy game, got screamed at, escaped the United Center with our lives and got puked on in the party bus. Other than that, a swell time.

  • JP, I hope that trip wasn’t inspired by my story of how well my trip to the Wings-‘Hawks game in November went.

I lost all respect I had for Blackhawks fans at that game.  As the scoreboard is prompting “Let’s Go Hawks” they’re chanting “De-troit Sucks.”  Yeah, way to support your team there, morons.
