Forward Tomas Tatar tweeted this morning that he’s been called up to the Red Wings.
The Detroit organization has not confirmed the news but it can be assumed that Tatar would only be brought up to the Wings if an injury had occurred, as the team does not make a practice of calling up players just to sit them in the press box.
Cory Emmerton has been a healthy scratch for the Wings of late. If Tatar’s call-up is injury-related, one wonders why Emmerton wouldn’t be inserted into the Detroit lineup. My theory: A skill player is hurt and the Wings brass want a skill player (Tatar) to replace him, rather than a grinder (Emmerton).
