  1. Kicking off tonight’s game thread a bit early as I’m headed to the Joe tonight and don’t know when else I can do this.

The big mid-day news is that Henrik Zetterberg is now questionable for tonight’s game with a “mid-body injury” (a new one by almost all of Twitter, it would seem). Luckily, Patrick Eaves is back in the Detroit lineup and Fabian Brunnstrom hasn’t been sent back to the Griffins yet, so the Wings have a body ready to go if Zetterberg can’t.

Jakub Kindl stays in on the blue line, meaning Mike Commodore is a healthy scratch. Jimmy Howard gets the start.

On the Oilers’ side of things, Nikolai Khabibulin has been off to a stellar start and gets the nod tonight. Two shutouts and a GAA under 1.00 for Khabibulin. The Edmonton offense has only produced 36 goals on the season, though, good for six-worst in the Western Conference (ignoring that two of the teams worse than them have played fewer games – one of which is Detroit).

Game time is 7:30 PM. TV is FSD.

  2. I’m so jealous you are at the game!!!! :) Wings look strong on the puck but there have been a few questionable calls. Let’s finish strong!

  3. Three games makes a streak, right?

The Red Wings have bounced back nicely from their six-game losing streak with a three-game winning streak, during which they’ve only allowed two goals.

For the record, the Wings haven’t allowed a goal in the regular season games I’ve been to this year. That’ll be put to the test tomorrow against Dallas.

I think tonight’s game was a little sloppy and a little slow. There were long stretches that just weren’t really that fun to watch, but the Red Wings grinded away and picked up the win.

There were only a handful of shifts from either team where they really controlled play in the opposing zone, so when one came up it was really noticeable.

Jimmy Howard made a couple of nice stops and was there when he was needed. Not the hardest shutout of his career but important right now as the rest of the team gets back on track.
