  • The Red Wings wrap up their season-long five-game road trip with another late game tonight, a 10:00 PM start in Calgary.

It’ll be Detroit’s first game without Valtteri Filppula gone for six weeks with a broken wrist. The team did get good news today as Filppula will not require surgery, putting his return at six weeks rather than the earlier-reported six-to-eight weeks.

With Filppula gone and Ville Leino a healthy scratch, Khan says the Wings are working with the following lines:

    Bertuzzi-Datsyuk-Holmstrom
    Cleary-Zetterberg-Williams
    Draper-Helm-Eaves
    May-Abdelkader-Maltby

Jonathan Ericsson could miss the game with an illness that the Wings aren’t ready to call the flu. These were the defensive pairings in the morning skate:

    Lidstrom-Kronwall
    Stuart-Rafalski
    Meech-Lebda

Chris Osgood will start in net.

The game is supposedly on FSD+ but I’m not seeing it on Comcast’s guide. It’s also a Hockey Night in Canada game so if you can handle Calgary-centric announcers the CBC is an option.

  • I saw the game on FSN-D however, it was on 664 vice 663. Whatever that means… That was one of the best games I have sen the Wings play all season. I thought they did a good job of maintaining control of the puck and shuttting down the attack. If it was not for that bad bounce Ozzie would have had a shutout.

We needed a win like that to wrap up a long road trip. Now we have a few days to enjoy it before the Sharks come to town.

    Go Wings!

  • Yeah, no comments at the time from me ’cause I was watching during a Halloween party but that was a really solid game overall.

Osgood with the two big stops to start the game was huge. Nice to see that.

Maltby let us all breathe easier by actually scoring into the empty net. That has to be noted, not to rag on him but because the Wings so rarely make it easy.
