  • MacLeod confirms, both Smyth and Forsberg will be out tonight.

    http://redwingscorner.blogspot.com/2008/05…for-game-4.html

As Bill at A2Y puts it, it’s a great frigging day for a sweep.

    Clark Rasmussen May 1, 2008 5:49 AM
  • Hmm, it is a good day for a sweep. :)

I hope I’ll be back in time, but I’m going to a jam session and might miss some of the first period. ): Not that it really matters. Leave some good notes! :D

  • Injury status for the Avalanche:

    Paul Stastny (out)

    Peter Forsberg (hopeful)

    Ryan Smyth (doubtful)

    Wojtek Wolski (out)

It seems as though Jose Theodore still gets the start in tonight’s Game Four. Haven’t seen anything to indicate otherwise.

The Wings lineup looks like it will remain unchanged.

Obviously, it would be good for the Wings if they can wrap things up tonight but it’s far from critical. Finishing things tonight would mean they’d get more rest than whoever they play next but all four Conference Semifinal series’ could end in the next game so it wouldn’t be by much. More important is to at least win by Game Five, to spare the travel back to Denver for a Game Six.

Even with a 3-0 lead, I’m still nervous. I’ll feel better when this series is over.

  • Chelios a late scratch for the Wings. Lilja is in.

    Clark Rasmussen May 2, 2008 2:10 AM
  • Sammy gets one through! Wings on the board!

    Clark Rasmussen May 2, 2008 2:16 AM
  • Uh-oh Theodore. Just the start we wanted.

    Britishwingsfan May 2, 2008 2:17 AM
  • Three-or-four really should have had that. And Lilja gets the assist. I’ll be damned.

    Awful call on Homer.

    Clark Rasmussen May 2, 2008 2:19 AM
  • What the f*ck was that call? Should have been the other way around. And just f*cking typical! f*cking goal on the powerplay.

    Britishwingsfan May 2, 2008 2:22 AM
  • And of course the Avs take advantage.

Conspiracy theory from A2Y: Ref bias for Colorado ’cause NBC wants Game 5 to happen.

    Clark Rasmussen May 2, 2008 2:23 AM
  • Wings looking sloppy right now. Not good.

    Clark Rasmussen May 2, 2008 2:34 AM
  • The Avs have actually turned up to this game.

    Britishwingsfan May 2, 2008 2:38 AM
  • Homer! Penalize that, bitches!

    Clark Rasmussen May 2, 2008 2:45 AM
  • J.M.F. Franzen! Bitchsmacked!

    Clark Rasmussen May 2, 2008 2:46 AM
  • And the Franzenator strikes again! Take that!

    Britishwingsfan May 2, 2008 2:48 AM
  • And the Avs take a penalty to end the period. If the Wings can score on the power play to start the period, this game is almost over. The idea of being able to calm down is so nice.

    Clark Rasmussen May 2, 2008 2:54 AM
  • I want this thing wrapped up soon so I can go to bed.

    Britishwingsfan May 2, 2008 3:04 AM
  • Budaj in for Colorado. That didn’t take long.

    Clark Rasmussen May 2, 2008 3:06 AM
  • Zata with the blast! PPG! 4-1!

    Clark Rasmussen May 2, 2008 3:09 AM
  • Oh yeah Hank. Can I mention the word “sweep” now?

    Britishwingsfan May 2, 2008 3:12 AM
  • Holy f*ck! Zata with a f*cking incredible goal.

    Clark Rasmussen May 2, 2008 3:14 AM
  • In-f*cking-credible goal! f*cking hell Zetterberg!

    Britishwingsfan May 2, 2008 3:16 AM
  • Maybe we can get Helmer a goal before this one is out.

    Clark Rasmussen May 2, 2008 3:21 AM
  • Six to f*cking one. This game rocks.

    Clark Rasmussen May 2, 2008 3:28 AM
  • FFFFRAAANNNZZZEENNNNN!!!!!! I think that’s a goal a game now.

    Shalalala shalalala heyyyy goodbye!

    Britishwingsfan May 2, 2008 3:30 AM
  • Hat trick, Mule!

IIRC, he just broke another Gordie Howe record, most goals in a playoff series.

    Clark Rasmussen May 2, 2008 3:40 AM
  • Two hat tricks in one series. f*cking hell.

    And also – HUMILIATION!

    Britishwingsfan May 2, 2008 3:43 AM
  • Let’s get Zata another one, two hat-tricks in one game.

    Clark Rasmussen May 2, 2008 3:47 AM
  • How about three. That would be like unloading a lorryload of salt into a gaping wound. Then rubbing it in as hard as possible.

    Britishwingsfan May 2, 2008 3:54 AM
  • Or having your face rubbed into a landfill site.

Okay, I’ll stop now, you get the idea. It’s way too late/early to actually know what I’m saying.

    Britishwingsfan May 2, 2008 4:00 AM
  • What a great preview for Fabian Brunnstrom. “Look what you get when you come to Detroit, Fabian. Seven goals, all scored by Swedes. Just sign on the dotted line and you could be a part of it.”

    Clark Rasmussen May 2, 2008 4:01 AM
  • Another power play. Come on, Zata! :flagcanada:

    Clark Rasmussen May 2, 2008 4:03 AM
  • Ozzie won’t even let them get a consolation. No mercy!

    Britishwingsfan May 2, 2008 4:12 AM
  • Another Swede with another goal. Routine. No big deal. :flagcanada:

    Clark Rasmussen May 2, 2008 4:14 AM
  • HUMILIATED! This is just too funny.

    Britishwingsfan May 2, 2008 4:16 AM
  • Bah. Lame penalty on Drake anyway.

    Clark Rasmussen May 2, 2008 4:19 AM
  • Like that goal’s gonna make a fat load of difference.

    Britishwingsfan May 2, 2008 4:19 AM
  • Gotta be careful here, all the Avs need is to score once every 30 seconds for the rest of the game…

    :flagcanada:

    Clark Rasmussen May 2, 2008 4:30 AM
  • And that’s all she wrote!

Sweep complete, the Wings move on!

    Clark Rasmussen May 2, 2008 4:33 AM
  • Brilliant. I never expected that at the start of the series.

    Britishwingsfan May 2, 2008 4:35 AM
  • Classy, classy move by the Avs fans to cheer their team even after the loss. Glad to see it.

    Clark Rasmussen May 2, 2008 4:36 AM
  • GET OUT THE BROOMS! :D Finally! I can say it <|3333333 That was an awesome way to end the series, and now I get to make fun of my friend tomorrow(Avs fan ): ) Awesome, awesome, awesome. Johan Franzen...is indescribable. I can't believe how well he's played lately. But hahaha, 'sweep' also rhymes with 'sleep' which is what I'm off to do now. :flagcanada:

    Mathieu_Datsyuk132351 May 2, 2008 4:38 AM
  • Talking of sleeping….I don’t know how I managed to make it. I was knackered before the start of the game. Goodnight.

    Britishwingsfan May 2, 2008 4:40 AM
  • A little history…

The Wings last scored 8 goals in a playoff game on April 15, 2000, against the Kings.

    http://www.detroithockey.net/history/sched…me=0&type=P

The last time they finished the first round in six games and the second round in a sweep was 1997, a year they went on to win the Cup.
