  • The crowd is begining to accept his homecoming and most people really wish the best for him.

  • Cheers or Boos , they are not the real fans antways. They get their tickets from work and the real fans watch on TV. Real Hockey fans wish Feds the best.

  • Hail to Fedorov !

The 2nd best player in the NHL behind Forsberg.

REAL hockey fans understand how great he really is.  It’s the fans’ who can’t take off the Wingnut headgear and red blinders who can’t swallow the pill.

  • According to those on the Mlive forum, but then.. they don’t know hockey !

Top 20 of what?  David Letterman?  Jay Leno? Conan O’Brien?  Noooooooo.. let me guess Barry Melrose !

He is 2nd BEST behind Forsberg in talent.  He is one of few players that can dictate the outcome of the game.  If NOT !  Then why did the Wings have Schneider and Lidstrom shadow him ALL night long?  They double-teamed him all night.  First with the Datsyuk line, then in the 3rd.. with the line of Yzerman, Draper, and Maltby.  One on one, he makes those look silly !  Hardest slapshot recorded in the NHL skills competition, faster skater in the skills competition.  Didn’t he win the Selke award, Hmmm?  85 points last year.  Played D under Bowman.

    Top 20 no more !  HA !

And it’s he and his agent.  Tisk Tisk.  English and hockey apparently isn’t your strong suit.  Stick to the newbies on the Mlive forum.

    GO PACK !

  • Take off the red blinders, COOTIE !

Fedorov is the best behind Forsberg !

Funny, you never seem to give examples.

Tell me why, I’m 10 years too late !  Fedorov was the difference in the last Wings Stanley cup run.  He dominated the Avs.  Shut down Forsberg with his D.  One of the best two-way players in the game today !

    GO PACK !

    hockeymomX2 January 4, 2004 7:48 AM
  • Because you disgrace the greatest game on Earth.. by trying to be the Barry Melrose of Mlive.

    LOL !  Formulate a POLL !  LOL !  Too funny !

Learn the game first, and maybe.. just maybe.

    NOT !

Tell me why Fedorov isn’t the 2nd best player behind Forsberg.

Examples !  Examples !  Don’t take the personal side either.  Duh, he left for the left coast and made me sad.  He is money hungry.  Selfish, arrogant, wanted the spotlight.  Those excused are OLD news !  Plus, they don’t relate to his skill on the ice !

    hockeymomX2 January 4, 2004 8:03 AM
  • LOL !  You make me laugh !

First of all.. Pronger and Lidstrom are D (or did you forget that?)

Secondly.. Broduer is a GOALIE !

Thirdly.. Naslund, Sundin, Tkachoke (LOL), Lang, Betuzzi, Thornton, Palfy, Kovalchuk pale in comparsion to what Fedorov can do on the ice.  Tkachoke, and Betuzzi stand in front of the net taking punishment.  Naslund can’t dominate a game like Fedorov.  Sundin can’t stay healthy, and when he is.. he is just an above average player.  Thornton who?  The Teddy bears have done what during his tenure?  Palfy, shaa.  Lang has skill.. but not Fedorov skill.  Kovalchuk is still a baby.  Give him 10 years in the league and then visit us again.

And lastly.. did I not say Forsberg was the BEST !  So why include him in your list?

You still haven’t told me why Fedorov isn’t the 2nd best behind Forsberg.

    hockeymomX2 January 4, 2004 8:29 AM
  • Past him by, LOL.

And goalies and defensemens can’t be measured when talking about skilled players in the NHL.  Which exactly Fedorov is.

He still does take over games, has and always will.  Forcing a team like the Wings to shadow him all night long with their top scoring line, and defensemen.

Learn hockey !  And I’m still wanting for the reasons why Fedorov isn’t the 2nd best players on the ice in the NHL.

    hockeymomX2 January 4, 2004 8:52 AM
  • Why post the question?  Especially in a forum like Mlive.. they are so PRO Wings.. and Fedorov left them crying in their milk.

The bias and the non-knowledgable ppl in that forum would only slam him.  And call him names.

They couldn’t provide examples (hockey examples) on why Fedorov isn’t the 2nd best player behind Forsberg.

    PACKERS.  GO BRONCOS !

    hockeymomX2 January 4, 2004 9:44 AM
  • Save your drama for those who care !?

I won’t and haven’t posted in that forum in a while.

    hockeymomX2 January 4, 2004 11:49 AM
  • Just saw the opening of the Anaheim game and when Fedorov hit the ice from the locker room, I heard very few boos and a few cheers.  Contrast this to his first return, where he practically got boo’d out of the arena!

Of course, when the game started, the fans did start to boo when he touched the puck.  One time, he received some boos just for being in the general vacinity of the puck!

  • I would agree with jneighbor on this one in saying that Fedorov is not the second best player in the league currently.  It seems that hockeymom is looking for FACTS to prove this, so I will offer numbers that cannot be contested (although, I’m sure she’ll find a creative way to tell me that they are irrelevant!):

    Facts about Fedorov this season:

    1.  He has played 39 games.

    2.  He has 26 total points.  There are 51 other players in the league with more points than him currently.

    3.  He has scored 13 goals.  29 players currently have more goals than Fedorov this season.  We are nearing the halfway point in the season, and if he can keep this frantic pace up, he should be able to reach about 26-28 goals!  Not an offensive powerhouse in my opinion.  Draper has more goals than Fedorov this season, which is pretty funny!

    4.  He has assisted on 13 goals.  If you want to argue that he is a playmaker, keep in mind that 99 players have more assists than him currently.

    5.  His plus/minus rating currently sits an an unimpressive -11.  761 players in the NHL right now have a better plus/minus rating than Fedorov does.  I realize he is on the ice with the other teams top lines, so that can sway this number…. but, Markus Nasland is also on the ice with other teams top lines and he is +18.  Bertuzzi, who gets matched with the best defenseman a team has to offer (and plays on a line with Nasland) is +20.

Sure, we are looking at a very thin slice of Fedorov’s career with these stats, and you can find a bad stretch for any great player…. but I think the point that jneighbor is trying to make is that Fedorov is not playing like the #2 player in the league right now.  I think he was a top 5 player back in about 1993-1996 when he was having 100 point+ seasons and winning Selke Trophy’s… but I don’t think its true anymore.

The good thing about Fedorov is that he should have plenty of time to try to win back the love of Ms. Anna K. this summer when the Ducks fail to qualify for the playoffs.

  • Fedorov is a fantastic two-way player.  I’ve always thought, and I know that alot of people think this, that Fedorov could be a MUCH better player than he is.  Sometimes you see him play a game and you think that he could be the greatest player to ever play the game.  But other times, you watch him and wonder if he’s even trying.

I think he’s just a real emotional and somewhat immature guy.  He seems more concerned with looking cool and being a celebrity than playing hockey.  But that’s just my opinion.

If I had to put a team together and Fedorov was available, you bet I would take him.

    eyetricks January 5, 2004 5:32 AM
  • Stats aside who’s a  better two way player than Fedorov? If you had to start a team who would you pick? I may go with Roenick or Tkachuk but Federov would be a bad pick either. You have to take health into the thought process also and Federov has never really ben injured. so his durability has to come into play also. Forget the numbers and stats and HM may be right or close to it anyways. By the way when does HM get promoted, She has brought alot to this forum in a short time and I’ll give her a vote for a higher rating.

  • I think the not playing hard thing is way overboard. With all his minutes he has to conserve at times on the ice. but with his ego, I don’t think he would ever not give his all when needed.

    Shadyrock January 5, 2004 8:01 AM
  • YEA! Notice how he Trolls by the question of why did he post here saying he was Beliveau. Don’t waste your time with this Cootie.

    Shadyrock January 5, 2004 12:45 PM
  • I think Fedorov has made it clear that unless he is the star of the team, he is not interested in sticking around and playing hard.  He is much more of an individual player than he is a team player.

    eyetricks January 6, 2004 2:30 AM
  • Sergei is the type of player who only worries about covering his own but and nothing else.

    WhizKid07 January 6, 2004 2:43 AM
  • Last time I checked lewis wanted his players to cover their own butt. It was worrying about other guys that was getting them out of position. Fed’s is a solid Hockey player period.

    Shadyrock January 6, 2004 5:47 AM
  • It’s a tough call. their are alot of bright players that are just over looked, that may be better than him . some are stuck on bad clubs and some are to young to know yet. It just seems like Feds is stuck in a mode that will not allow him to be the superstar.

    Shadyrock January 7, 2004 1:12 AM
  • No disputes there.  I think the only dispute here has been that whether or not he is the #2 guy in the league.
