Draper Could Return to Wings Lineup for Game Three

It looks as though Kris Draper will return to the Detroit lineup tonight as the Red Wings visit the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game Three of their Stanley Cup Finals matchup. He replaces Mikael Samuelsson, who is reported to be ill.

Draper skated on Detroit's third line in practice Tuesday, alongside Darren Helm and Dan Cleary. Jiri Hudler moved up to Henrik Zetterberg's line to take the spot Cleary had been holding down.

Should Samuelsson be able to play, Draper would remain out.

Pavel Datsyuk will not rejoin the Red Wings tonight but coach Mike Babcock was hopeful Datsyuk would be available for Game Four.

The Penguins are in a virtual must-win scenario as a loss would put the Wings just one win from claiming their second Stanley Cup in a row.

Jeez, "MY" Special Glasses, whats wrong with you? If you cannot see whats really wrong, and why regular season NLB gets more press than the "Stanley Cup Finals" bud your looking through some special glasses. Yes is was a tight game, but if you have been following the Wings since the 90's and keep seeing pattern, would'nt you call it out?

The Wings should, and could of played better tonight, but if you go back and look at that game(as many have Tivo, and DVRs) you cannat honestly say that game was called right, or fair...

Just like any sport you can always question calls and games. It doesn't mean what you believe its true. The Wings have been as close as you can get to a dynasty for years in these days and I really don't see any pattern <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.png" />We can agree to disagree but maybe its perhaps you watch different feeds than I do. <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.png" />

Crosby is infact pointless through 3 games thus far Malkin though if i'm correct has a goal and 4 assist's all i ask is for some consistency on the part of the ref's and that go's both way's if your gonna call it on one side you HAVE to call it on the other there was no difference between what Ericsson did and what Gill did multiple time's i could live with it if it was called on each end

Crosby had an assist tonight...

your right somehow i missed it in the box score

yeah but he can't even score a goal with the NHL, giving all there attention to him. Crosby is talentented, but I would take Datsuk, or Zett, or Helm, or even Abdelcator, before him. He doe'st know how to play with a team, Pitts and the NHL should give Malkin, and the rest of their team some credit for his success.

Helm, or even Abdelcator (sp) before Crosby...Now there's objectivity at it's best.

Wow, Your sure about that statement? Crosby is the playoff goal scoring leader!Your dislike for Crosby is evident but there's no denying his skill that will only get better with experience. Crosby is a marquee player that teams build around much like a Zetterberg or Datsyuk. The wings are doing a great job at forechecking and not giving him any time or space to make things happen, it's what good defensive teams do to opposing superstars.

Jesus, there were a couple of questionable calls, as well as the missed too many men on the ice, but it's one f*cking game, the wings are still winning the series, and like I always say in these situations if they win the next game everything's fine. They were sh*t in the third period, that's why they lost. Of course Crosby is marketed like hell as the face of the NHL, but that doesn't mean there's some sort of conspiracy going on. All this conspiracy bullsh*t makes Wings fans look bad.

Or if you'd prefer, of course the current Gary Bettman is really the alien king of planet Xorxo, Xyxazool, and has come to earth with his son Xaliloqwi, who has taken the form of Sidney Crosby and his band of minions, who have taken the form of NHL referees. The Xorxonians are in league with the lizard people who control the world's governments ( a fact revealed by the great messiah David Icke), and have taken control of the NHL with the sole cause of destroying the Detroit Red Wings through various means. The reason for this is they were sick of the Red Wings' domination, which they saw while watching hockey on their hologram machines back on their home planet.

Quoted for truth. There's a big difference between conspiracy and incompetance. It's not that the refs were against the Wings in Game Three, it's just that they sucked. And that happens. Pens fans say it happened in Detroit's favor in the first two games. The breaks tend to balance out.Of course I will never say that incompetance should be tolerated but that's just an entirely different issue.

As a seasons ticket holder to our OHL Greyhounds I can assure you shotty reffing is alive and well in all forms of hockey.

Its the human aspect of hockey that keeps things interesting. If we wanted a game called to the letter we'd have video replay

every 3rd whistle. Bad reffing has its place as it invokes passion!!!

A hockey game just isn't the same if your not standing up yelling "WTF are you blind?" Imagine watching a game where everything was called, we'd have to go to 12 minute periods so games wouldn't last all day <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.png" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.png" />

I'd argue that bad reffing has no place in the game, there's just no better alternative.

In my ideal world, the rulebook would be streamlined and everything would be black and white. The players would adapt to this so we wouldn't see games dragged out by penalty after penalty. That's just my ideal world, though, I harbor no illusions that it would ever actually happen. So there's no better alternative, refs have room to be subjective.

I've said it before but since we're stuck with the imperfect world, one thing I'd like to see is a public (open to the media, not open to fans) review of the game's calls after the game. Just to clear the air about certain things. While I have no doubt that the teams get their answers about why things were or weren't called, the fans never do, which leads to conspiracy theories.

The problem with that being that the NHL would never admit the refs make mistakes. How would last night's refs answer about the missed too-many men call? "We missed that one." And that doesn't work for the NHL, so it would require a culture shift at the league to make it happen.

on the bright side Pav actually practiced today instead of skating by himself before the rest of the team took the ice that is a HUGE encouragment to me <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.png" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.png" />

I agree and disagree with this, but I like this statement as well.I think all the conspiracy talk is silly and all of you that are crying it need to put yourself in the ref's shoes for a game and see how easy it is for human error.

like i said in an earlier post all i ask for is some consistency as in the Ericsson call last night Gill was doing the same play over and over with no call yet they found it reasonable to call with 10 minutes to go in a tie game it was the right call as the rule call's for but like i said if your gonna call it one way you have to call it the other to <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.png" />

Here is the bottom line:

We lost because our PK is weak.
