DETROIT, Michigan -- Henrik Zetterberg scored a goal and added two assists Friday night, helping lead the Detroit Red Wings to a 5-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks.
Ty Conklin made 24 saves to earn his 11th straight home win in net for Detroit.
Ryan Getzlaf scored on an Anaheim power play just 52 seconds into the game, then Zetterberg took over.
With 6:12 left in the first period, Zetterberg fought off Chris Pronger in the right corner and sent the puck to the slot for Dan Cleary to deflect past Anaheim netminder Jean-Sebastien Giguere.
With under a minute remaining in the period and the Red Wings on the power play, Zetterberg notched his second assist by sending the puck from behind the net out front to a streaking Pavel Datsyuk, who snapped it by Giguere.
Zetterberg scored his goal on another Detroit power play, beating Giguere on a slap-shot from the left circle with 8:11 left in the second period.
Johan Franzen scored his third goal in two games since returning from a hand injury at 1:23 of the third, stealing the puck as the Ducks attempted to break out of their own zone before turning and firing it past Giguere, who seemingly let up on the play.
Bobby Ryan pulled the Ducks back to within a pair with 6:05 left in the game after Conklin lost the puck in his skates but Kris Draper finished things off with a breakaway slap-shot in the game's final seconds.
Notes: The game was the 1,000th of Pronger's career... One game after going five-for-six on the power play, the Red Wings went two-for-five.
Kirk Maltby is back in with Ville Leino a healthy scratch. My guess is the Wings are going with a "grittier" lineup against the Ducks.
Howard backs up Conklin.
Those are the only lineup notes I've got.
Oops, I wasn't paying attention and thought this was for today's game. ![]()
Sorrrrrry. <3
Is there a place I can watch tonight's game, since I'm already off topic enough?
Moved your post to the right thread. ![]()

I turned the game on just in time to see the Ducks score. WTF happened to get a penalty that fast?
THANK YOU, YOU ARE AN INTERNET GOD! ![]()
I had been googling for 20 minutes, with no success.
HOLY COW, IT'S FSN, TOO.
Genius! ![]()
It just said 9:42 left and went to commercial. How much of a delay is there? :c If anyone is so gracious to find out.
Oh, &forthebyandby, I bet the Wings are down by one because Maltby is back ![]()

Based on the goal, looks like you're not too far behind.
Not a bad first period for the Wings, they're winning a tight game.
I love seeing my boy Pavs get the goal. ![]()
How do you guys have time to post during the game? Every time I try to say something, the game is back on.

Your name is made of win <3 ![]()
And we are great multitaskers.
Bedazzling.

I won't speak for MD but the way I do it is by posting during stoppages. I like Ken and Mickey and all but for the most part I can already guess what they're going to say when they're doing a replay, so I ignore that and type.
My friend and I had a conversation about bedazzling our geometry books and tried to see how many times we could say bedazzling in a sentence, thus, the word was born
Or at least, that's the really shortversion.
I'll stop with my weird stories now.
That makes sense. I just got a wireless network set up today so this is the first time I've really been able to watch hockey and post at the same time. I usually get up during commercials but now that I can post I may change things.
Thanks for the welcome. Mathieu_Datsyuk, is that for Schneider? I assume the 132441 is Pavel, Matt and Filppula.

Love it.

You are a genius!
Yes, it is for my first three favorite (and my three most favorite) hockey players. ![]()
And you can call me MD or something.
Okay, commercial break. Let's try this.
MD it is, then. I miss Schneider but Rafalski has more than filled that role. Hopefully he does well in Montreal.
I think the Ducks have come out hitting harder this period. The Wings will have to be tough and stand up to it.

Agreed. That's their game. I like the finesse the Wings play more but Detroit won't be able to win if they can't stand up to toughness.
And I can't believe Kopy didn't get the penalty shot there. Weak call but that's the specific circumstance where a penalty shot should be called.
Ho ho ho, I see atdhe's been mentioned. I've used it loads of times, the delay's about a minute. Because of my ridiculously slow connection (usually around 500 kbps - the line's meant to be up to 3.5 Mb - I've experienced that about once) it's just a slideshow with audio, and subscribing to ESPN 360 Europe (basically NHL Center ice) would be pointless.
I usually just post after goals because it's easier.
And why does it seem everyone's talking about the olympics already? I know it's exciting, but there's a whole year to go.
Missed the whole first period. Zetterberg! And Pronger's in the box. Things couldn't get much better.
I was going to say the same thing about Brett Hull.
Kopecky was out there on the power play, drawing another penalty. Mike Babcock is a smart man, I wouldn't have done it.
And why does it seem everyone's talking about the olympics already? I know it's exciting, but there's a whole year to go.
It's huge in Canada, they've actually been talking about the 2010 hockey team since about 2007. It's just gotten worse since the Bejing Olympics ended. I imagine the same kind of thing will happen for London after Vancouver is over.

I saw an article on MSN about two weeks ago stating Sidney Crosby was the star of the Olympics (or something ridiculously close to that). I laughed at loud and then hoped he would break his leg or something around those lines ![]()
It was angering.
Close to three minutes left in the second <3
That was another good period. They stood up to the Ducks and made Anaheim pay for one of their over-physical plays with a power play goal.
Aside from a shift or two I think the Wings carried the play.

Yeah, it's just I've read loads of stuff abou rosters and stuff, it's getting ridiculous. And I've got nothing against Canada, but if they lost the final, it would be hilarious, just to see the players' faces when they recieve their silver medals. And I guess I'm bitter because Great Britain lost in the first qualifying round to those feared hockey powerhouses Poland and Japan. But there's always 1936.
And all the Olympic talk's been about how expensive it will be and whether or not Great Britain will field a football team at the Games.
Never should have happened. Giguere should have had it. But what a takeaway and what a shot by J.M.F. Franzen. ![]()
J.M.F. Franzen? Does that mean what I think it does? If so, I like it.
If you like it, you probably know what it means. ![]()
Smart penalty by Chelios, maybe. That was a close one. Nice save.
Conklin made a great pad stop at the end of the first penalty on that 5-on-3. He's one of the stars of the game so far.
Draper with 6.5 left, this one's over. He had a breakaway and shot anyway, I think that's because everyone knows Draper can't finish. Rocket of a shot. Octopi on the ice.
I thought "why's he shooting from there - there's loads of time left". Then I saw it was Draper, and that explained it. And how uncomfotable must it be to keep an octopus in the traditional way for the whole game? They must have been transferred to bags or something during the game.
My final thoughts - since I know you all missed me! ![]()
The second Anaheim goal...wow. Seriously, what the $*!#?
And then....Draper! I was happy to see him get another goal.
...And that about sums it up.
Henrik Zetterberg takes a faceoff
