ST. PAUL, Minnesota -- The Detroit Red Wings scored late in regulation for force overtime against the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night, then added a goal in the extra frame to complete the comeback win.
With Detroit down 2-1 and 1:20 left in regulation, Dan Cleary through a low-angle shot on net from the left wing that slipped between Minnesota goalie Niklas Backstrom's pads and into the net to tie the game.
Cleary then assisted on the game-winning goal, forcing a turnover in the Wild zone.
Henrik Zetterberg got the puck from Cleary and took it behind the goal line before turning to send a pass out front to a pinching Brett Lebda. Lebda grabbed the puck at the back door and knocked it home, giving Detroit the win.
Johan Franzen had scored Detroit's first goal at 9:58 of the first period, putting home the rebound of a Tomas Kopecky shot.
Brian Rolston tied the game 1:12 later, stuffing the puck under Dominik Hasek from in front with the Wild on a power play.
Minnesota took the lead at 5:36 of the second when Pavol Demitra rifled a shot over Hasek's glove from the left circle on a two-on-one.
Hasek finished the night with 24 saves on 26 shots against to remain unbeaten in his career against Minnesota. Backstrom stopped 35 of 38 Detroit chances in his first career loss when leading after two periods.
Does no one care we have a game tonight? D: Only a few minutes until the opening face-off and no one posted a topic.
I have no game notes (as always)
Let's get a W!
I was about to start the thread myself. Been working, otherwise it would have been earlier. ![]()
Dom gets the start tonight.
That was stellar, even though Pavel fell, he kept the puck as he slid and passed it to Rafalski
I wish I had awesome skills like that.
That was an insane stop. Good thing Lilja (was it him?) was there! Whoever that mystery defenseman was.
Shooting gallery for a bit there before the Franzen goal. Nice.
Awesome!
The Mule so deserved that one. I give credit to Backstrom on the first save, though.
Tie game as the Wild gets a powerplay goal from a WEAK call on Meech.
Lame penalty leads to a power play goal for Minnesota. Convenient.
And catmandu says Hasek went down too early.
Anyone else having technical issues with FSND? D:
edit;; Looks like nothing happened the last two minutes of the game?
Glad to see I'm not the only one with problems. Thought the freezing rain might be screwing with my cable or something. Even though that's not supposed to happen.

x] Nope. And it's not raining here right now.
Does anyone know why Zetterburg got a penalty?
(Awesome saves by Hasek)
And they score. ): That one was odd. Who gave it away?
With all the weak calls tonight, why wasn't that trip called?
That said, nice shot by Demitra. Damn.
Just like Mickey Redmond said 'was a pretty good elbow' x]
Eww, sick, stop closing up on his face, I don't want to watch the bloody towel. Unless it gives the Wild another penalty, then go ahead.
Weak-ass power play.
I'd say so D:
They could stop beating up on the Wings too, but that's a little too much to ask for. (a goal or two isn't, though)

Three Wild players on Holmstrom and yet it's a Minnesota player and Datsyuk who go to the box.
Some day, Homer's gonna get suspended for going apesh*t in the crease. After getting knocked down for the fifth time in a shift, he's gonna go Brashear on some people.

XD LMAO. I pray that I am watching that game x] Hahaha. And if it doesn't you can always do the alternate history thing. XD
I'd like to thank the goalpost for saving Dom today
We got lucky.
Mickey hates this game. What fun.
And Homer isn't actually crazy enough to go Brashear on anyone.

We can still dream? ![]()
At least they will only have a 3 second power play at the beginning of the third period.
Kudos to Samuelsson for a good try to drive it home. ;D
(I love how Hasek throws his hands up during icings and other various calls x])
THANK YOU DAN CLEARY!!!!!!!
Too bad they're not in Detroit, now we can't hear his theme song.
Brett Lebda!
Where the hell did he come from on that one?!
Brett Lebda.
Thank you.
I am surprised we won it so quickly. Oh well, WOO!
That was a good play ![]()
Before the game tonight I had a bad feeling but I didn't want to say anything. I'm glad I didn't now, it would have been wrong. ![]()
Noteworthy that the WINGS have been finding ways to come back late in games to overcome deficits, score, and WIN. This is a good sign at this point in the regular season. I don't recall previous teams having the ability to do this on a consistent basis.
Many role players stepping up at crucial times with big goals, big plays.
Awesome!

But they shouldn't be in those experiences. They should win all the games! ![]()

And God said unto Nick; Go forth and redefine ways to win.
Nick smiled, the rest is history

Disagree. Adversity counts. If there wasn't any, what would be the point? The Wings are learning important lessons, developing confidence in their abilities, which will prove valuable during the play-offs.
