DETROIT, Michigan -- Marian Hossa scored a natural hat trick to open the scoring for the Thrashers Tuesday night and the Detroit Red Wings never recovered as Atlanta cruised to a 5-1 victory.
Hossa scored twice on the power play and once at even-strength in the first 21:14 of the game, earning his seventh career hat trick.
The first power play goal came at 7:33, when Hossa skated out of the corner and moved out front of the goal untouched, putting a shot past Chris Osgood.
Hossa's second game at with 5:38 left in the period. Brett Lebda missed the puck while retreating at center ice and Hossa pounced on it, jumping past him and skating in on goal alone before throwing a quick shot by Osgood.
Wide open in the slot on a power play, Hossa scored his third goal at 1:14 of the second. Todd White drew two defenders to him along the boards and the already-shorthanded Wings couldn't cover Hossa when he took a pass and rifled a shot into the net.
Atlanta would get a power play goal from Eric Perrin and a late goal by former Red Wing Slava Kozlov to wrap up the scoring.
Niklas Kronwall scored Detroit's only goal.
Osgood stopped 13 of 17 shots against before being replaced in net by Dominik Hasek. Hasek allowed the game's final goal, stopping seven of eight shots. Kari Lehtonen made 46 saves on Detroit's 47 shots.

Osgood gets the start tonight (he's up in the rotation) and Dallas Drake is out of the lineup with a knee injury. Aaron Downey takes his spot.
Eh, Nick had the puck, can't complain too much about that hit.
Can complain about the lack of coverage on the goal. Hossa walked right in from the corner.

Well its part of hockey, but I view it close to being cross checking ... It was a hit and knock down from behind. Nick doesn't have eyes in the back of his head (nor does anyone else for that matter). Borderline cross check in my opinion. That's how guys get hurt

I'd agree if he had been hit into the boards. And Holik's a tough guy, if he wanted to hurt Lidstrom he could have hit much harder.
Guess we'll let Downey settle. You're right. Lidstrom oriented toward the boards, and it would have been a big issue.
Nice chance by Dr. Fil going to the net.
You....are my hero D:
D: This is depressing. =/
Getting outplayed by Atlanta. (Me & my biases. ._.)
What are we doing here? Storm back in the last minutes of the third again..??
Seems like it. NOT MUCH OF A GAME PLAN TO ME, FOLKS.
At least the stellar Dr. Fil was interviewed. My sanity has been spared for a little bit longer. ![]()
I don't worry until the end of the second. Didn't look good but the first intermission is a good time to regroup and get going.

WTF!?!?!?!
HAT TRICK!?!?!?! D:
INSULTING ![]()
(WHERE'S HASEK!?!?!?!?!![]()
Okay, a little worried now.
Edit: No need to call for Hasek, he won't come in cold. Three goals isn't impossible anyway.

But Hasek is my favorite goalie D: Darn.
I have a bad feeling that Lidstrom's in the box.
edit;; can I call for Hasek now?
Apparently the WINGS haven't taken THRASHERS very serious up to this point. 4-0 mid-way thru second period. Wasn't the January thaw last week??
Enter HAZEK
Proof the WINGS aren't immune to being E-M-B-A-R-R-A-S-E-D.
XD HAHAHA. D: You crack me up. I may have popped a hole in my lung.
That last minute was exciting.
Let's not get in another 4 goal deficit? ![]()
I swear I've seen Homer pushed down more than once. Maybe it's not that serious, but still, it's not cool.
Yeah, I bet this game is already lost.

Appreciate your Sense of Humor .... notice not too many "Paying Customers" have much of a G-S-O-H tonight? Hmmmm. Wonder why?
OK.. Clark ... Are we worried yet?
Is that a serious question? D: XD Maybe you should go take a trip to Dr. Fil's and get some meds. ![]()
Well sports fans I guess today is not a good day to be a Wings fan. Atlanta is really on top of their game, I mean we outshot them 22-6 in the second and we did not score? WTF!!!!! ![]()

Hey there, buddy! ![]()
Haha. I like his post, I mean, I just kind of vented in mine. He explained stuff. ![]()
But I agree, I questioned a lot in the 2nd.

Have already started on the Meds. They're called Miller lite.

Hahaha, the joys of being legal. ![]()
Well, hopefully the Wings won't be shut out?
Well if there is a sunny side to this, its that its is an excellent opportunity for Hasek to improve his Goals Against Average, relative to Ozgood.
OK.. Clark ... Are we worried yet?
I distracted myself, burned off some energy cleaning. Updated the logos for the St. Louis Blues on the main site. This is painful to watch.
D: Wow. This is...sad, sad, sad ._.
This picture is reminding me of tonight's game.
Someone make a great nickname for Kronwall no, he deserves it!
This game is still obviously lost, but at least there are not shut-outs!
Too bad it took so long for them to get one. Need one quick if they are to have any chance of a comeback.

How about Kron-balls??

Oh lordy. XD lmao. I wouldn't want that to be my nickname. XD But then I guess I can't speak for the whole world. ![]()
Anyone else have a bad feed tonight or is it just bad for me? Not that it matters for much longer.
I think its like Micky R has been saying .... this kind of thing is bound to happen at some point.
We're just not used to this .....
Regroup ... this is the kind of thing that some leadership by certain WINGS will prove well worth the talk.

Oops sorry Clark, Thought you were talking about having a bad "feel" for the game.
I have the TV here in the room with me, but the bad thing is the fridge is clear on the other side of the house.
