Bertuzzi to Debut Against Blue Jackets

Detroit Red Wings' trade deadline acquisition Todd Bertuzzi will make his first appearance in the lineup Thursday night as the Red Wings host the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Bertuzzi, who played only seven games with the Florida Panthers before back surgery knocked him out of the lineup in November, confirmed after Thursday's morning skate that his back is fully healed and that he feels that he is in game shape.

"It's fun to be part of a team again," said Bertuzzi. "The mental part is pretty much done, it's (the back) 100 percent healed. I'm going to treat it that way and try to get some hits early and get involved in the game."

Dan Cleary will also return to the lineup, having recovered from a right knee sprain.

"We're very excited to have them back and get some depth back," head coach Mike Babcock said.

Notes: Bertuzzi will play on a line with Pavel Datsyuk and Tomas Holmstrom, a spot previously filled by the injured Henrik Zetterberg and taken as of late by rookie Valtteri Filppula.

The Wings might be coming off two losses but they're getting healthy again, with Dan Cleary and Todd Bertuzzi in the lineup tonight. Ellis and Langfeld will sit but neither has been sent back to GR yet.

Not a bad first, but no great either. Cleary and Bertuzzi in the lineup is certainly a good reason to smile. <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/default/suspect.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":suspect:" border="0" alt="suspect.gif" />

I'm going to go on a limb and say Bertuzzi scores tonight in the third; the game winner too! <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.png" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.png" />

GO WINGS!!

Heh, I'm trying not to have high expectations for a guy who hasn't played in months. He did start getting to the front of the net, though.

Thought Ozzie looked calm. Always a relief after watching Hasek looking bored.

The Wings have been absolutely buzzing throughtout the third. Very comforting to get the lead, bit of a lucky goal by Datsyuk. Lets see if they can make it hold and jump into first place.

Aww damn, how big is Chelios' shot off the post when the Jackets turn around and go the other way, getting the tying goal? Gotta keep the pressure up. Doesn't matter if Columbus gets a point, the Wings need two.

Right, we do need the points. I'm none to worried about our bracket race though. Not sure why, but seems like Detroit is going to have a tough time of it whoever they play.

AGAIN!!!

Damn boys..hit the net!!

Go Wings.

Come on Kronwall, learn to at least hit the net. always with him he is shooting so hard and off!

Shootout. Damn.

Wings kept it up and had great pressure, now Columbus has weathered the storm and has a better chance to steal the extra point.

Maybe the Wings aren't really all that serious about the the Division/Conference. I'd rather see them healthy, strong and end up 4th, than battered and tired with 1st. Looks like Colorado might end up with the bottom seed. Wouldn't that be great to see the Wings play the Avs in the first round?!?! <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/default/suspect.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":suspect:" border="0" alt="suspect.gif" />
