Red Wings Bounce Back to Beat Predators

The Detroit Red Wings scored three unanswered goals to turn a game in which they trailed 2-1 into a 4-2 win over the Nashville Predators on Thursday night.

The Red Wings tied the game with 35 seconds remaining in the first period, when Tomas Holmstrom deflected a shot from the left wing boards by Nicklas Lidstrom with Detroit on a power play.

After a scoreless second period, the Red Wings pulled into the lead 1:42 into the third. With Robert Lang and Steve Yzerman fighting for the puck on the left side of the ice, Brendan Shanahan got open in the slot. Yzerman got the puck free and sent it to Shanahan, who moved around Nashville goalie Tomas Vokoun and put the puck into the net.

Jason Williams closed the game's scoring, one-timing a chance from the slot past Vokoun on a pass from the bottom of the right circle by Yzerman.

Nashville had opened the scoring with 6:31 remaining in the first, when a series of quick passes got the puck to Mike Sillinger alone in the left circle to wrist a shot past Detroit netminder Manny Legace for a power play goal.

Just 40 seconds later, Kris Draper scored off the rebound of a Pavel Datsyuk shot while the two skated in on an odd-man rush.

Nashville breifly regained their lead 27 seconds later, when Scott Hartnell deflected a long shot by Brendan Witt past Legace.

Both goaltenders finished the night having faced 34 shots, with Legace making 32 saves and Vokoun stopping 30 chances.

Detroit went one-for-six on the power play while Nashville went one-for-eight.

The Red Wings will be back in action on Friday night when they host the Chicago Blackhawks in the second of four games in five nights.

This game's been pretty boring so far, to me, but it's good to see the Wings getting some goals on Vokoun and it was great to see him get hit midway through the third. After all the times that Predators have run over Detroit goalies, it was good to see Vokoun go down for a change.

And Nashville's fans just bother the hell out of me. Hell, the whole team does. It seems like they have a "If we can't beat them, beat them up" mentality. Hockey is physical but cheap-shots are for chickensh*ts.

Not to mention that there is something seriously wrong with Tim Mcgraw at a hockey game... Last time I checked we were playing hockey not line dancing or riding bulls!!!! <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/default/cool.png" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.png" />
