  • Todd Bertuzzi could be out of the lineup tonight, suffering from back spasms. He’s a game-time decision and Jiri Hudler will take his spot if he can’t go.

Bill over at Abel to Yzerman says there will be a game seven. I’ll have some of what he’s selling.

Personally, I don’t know about tonight. I’ve got a good feeling about Game Seven if the Wings can make it there, but I had that feeling against Edmonton last year and it didn’t help Game Six any.

  • I agree. I got a good feeling if there is a game seven as well. As for game six, I’m staying off these forums, as the only two times i’ve been on here, we’ve been equalized in the third period and lost in OT. I’m not taking the risk. :welcome:

  • Thanks for making the sacrifice. :welcome: Hope to see you back here after the game for a celebration.

Score early, then again. None of this one-goal bullsh*t.

Its obvious ANAHEIM has got the upper-hand. Hopefully, the RED WINGS can settle it down, and start playing their game, in front of GIGUERE ……….

  • After 20 minutes… Not much to say. Wings can’t control the puck so they can’t get anything going. And the ice looks like sh*t, puck is bouncing all over the place.

The only way to look at the first 20 minutes, is that the RED WINGS ought to go into their dressing room feeling good the score isn’t 2-0 or worse. The other thing they need to be thinking about is how they are going to take control of this game. The CHICKEN’s controlled about 75% of the first period. The WINGS need to reverse that, get the transition game in their favor. I’m thinking some long feeds into the neutral zone with 2 more RED WINGS with speed moving across center ice and on into the the CHICKEN’s zone. From their cycle to get a man open and get JSG moving from side to side. Too often the CHICKEN’s are out-positioning the RED WINGS and are able to re-gain control of the puck.

  • When was the last time the Wings got a really good bounce in the offensive end? They got two on the two goals in Game One but I can’t think of anything since then. No deflections off the shaft of the goalie stick, or off a defender. Could really use that right now.

    Clark Rasmussen May 23, 2007 2:13 AM
  • I tell ya… Hasek, as old as the guy is, he is a master at his craft. I dispised him in the playoffs vs Montreal when he was a Sabre because he was just a shutdown goalie. The Wings are lucky to have him between the pipes tonight, he is making some beauty saves.

    klaitinen May 23, 2007 2:15 AM
  • Before the penalty, before the goal, Penner totally ran Hasek over. I want Holmstrom to decapitate Giguere right now, I’m f*cking tired of him having to be so careful around the crease.

Bounces definitely have not been going the the WINGS way ………… but neither is anything else. Too many penalties and the WINGS power play hasn’t even got off first base!

    skyguy52 May 23, 2007 2:25 AM
  • Remember when the Ducks got away with too many men on the ice in Game Five? I miss the days when the refs couldn’t count.

    Clark Rasmussen May 23, 2007 2:39 AM
  • How can a team like the RED WINGS in a must win Game 6, be called for so many penalties and turn the puck over as much as they have through 40 minutes!

    skyguy52 May 23, 2007 2:39 AM
  • Run Giguere. Take shots, pin him down, bang in the rebound. Works for the Ducks.

    Clark Rasmussen May 23, 2007 2:42 AM
  • What is HASEK doing on his back again with his head on the goal line, with the puck loose in front of the net? Totally out-of-control at this point …………… :welcome: What a damn shame for team that has SOOO much talent that’s going to no good use tonight!

    skyguy52 May 23, 2007 2:43 AM
  • And just when i compliment Hasek he does the lie on your back and wish evryoine would just go away. Penalty I agree was weak at best but Detroit D just aren’t clearing these guys out from the front of the net.

    klaitinen May 23, 2007 2:46 AM
  • RED WINGS offense totally shut down ………. the best I think that can come out of this debacle is a couple goals to make it LOOK close ……….. I’m probably not even going watch much more of the third period ………. Its an OUTRAGE at this point! :welcome:

    skyguy52 May 23, 2007 2:48 AM

That was EXACTLY my point in my post preceeding yours KLAITINEN …… HASEK on his back without control of the puck, and the WING D standing around too ……… OUTRAGEOUS!

Did you stock up on TACO BELLS before the game? :welcome:

    skyguy52 May 23, 2007 2:51 AM
  • Taaacos…… :welcome:

    klaitinen May 23, 2007 2:53 AM
  • Hate to say this RED WING Fans, but I think it may be time to start thinking about the GOLF game …….. Whuddayaallsay? :welcome:

I just went to the garage to get my clubs in order. The RED WINGS have got to do some soul-searching in the dressing room. I think its fair to say the WINGS haven’t shown up yet ……… Anyone else care to comment?

    skyguy52 May 23, 2007 2:56 AM
  • Alright, that’s one! Get another one quick and this is a new game.

    Clark Rasmussen May 23, 2007 3:07 AM
  • And just like that we have a game…. I love desperation hockey…

    klaitinen May 23, 2007 3:07 AM
  • Game over, hasek on his back again!

    mike7psu May 23, 2007 3:11 AM
  • So, do the Wings’ passes just suck tonight? ‘Cause they’re not getting the puck from tape to tape like the Ducks are.

    Clark Rasmussen May 23, 2007 3:12 AM
  • HASEK makes the initial stop, but then goes down, ending up flat on his back again, for the easy lift by the DUCK standing over-top of the sprawled HASEK …… HASEK went down waaaayyy to easy and then made little or no attempt to be in position for the DUCK rebound …….

    :welcome:

    skyguy52 May 23, 2007 3:14 AM
  • Dom’s coverage of the bottom of the net is well known. Ducks are capitalizing on it bigtime.

    klaitinen May 23, 2007 3:18 AM

    Wings still alive here

  • Just to clarify, I was trying the Robert Lang treatment with that comment about the power play. I’ll try it on Lang now…

Goddamnit, Lang, you suck! Get Zata out there, Lang’s not doing sh*t!

    Clark Rasmussen May 23, 2007 3:24 AM

Right, he’s (LANG) given the puck up at least twice (had his stick lifted), and either failed to clear or had his pass intercepted at least two other times ….. AND he appears to be skating as if its a regular season game with the RED WINGS ahead by 4 goals!

    skyguy52 May 23, 2007 3:28 AM
  • So how big is that fourth Anaheim goal now? Could be down by one and this upcoming power play would be for the tie.

    Clark Rasmussen May 23, 2007 3:32 AM
  • woot!

    Creamer May 23, 2007 3:33 AM
  • What a time for the power play to step up! One goal game!

    Clark Rasmussen May 23, 2007 3:33 AM
  • OK … what will the RED WINGS do with this PP opportunity …… Is it PAYBACK TIME with GETZLAF in the BOX for CLOTHSLINING CLEARY? :welcome: I hope so ……..

    Clark Rasmussen May 23, 2007 3:34 AM
  • Lol… wow.. now thats a weak call. There’s the Detroit bounce you were talkin about :welcome:

    klaitinen May 23, 2007 3:35 AM
  • Heh, weak calls are a completely different thing to me. They’ve gone both ways this series. Bounces have been almost entirely to Anaheim.

    Clark Rasmussen May 23, 2007 3:37 AM
  • Its Time for MARKOV to get that goal I’ve been saying he’s due for ….. whuddayasay RED WING FANS!!!!!! :)

    skyguy52 May 23, 2007 3:37 AM
  • f*ck. I did like Samuelsson taking a swipe at the guy who sat on him at the end, but f*ck!

    Clark Rasmussen May 23, 2007 3:42 AM
  • and the HEADLINES will be showing the DOMINATOR making SNOW ANGELS in the CREASE !!!!!!! YEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAHHHH :)  :) :P

    skyguy52 May 23, 2007 3:43 AM
  • DUCKS WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wingers, you guys had a great season this year, and I think if we weren’t in the finals of the conference, you already would have advanced. I’m a little surprised that Babcock didn’t pull Hasek for a good length of time for a brief 6-on-4 during the power play…

    Shade May 23, 2007 3:45 AM
  • A game we needed the goalie to steal for us and it didn’t happen. There is no way the Wings should lose a game they score three goals on Giguere, in one period. At least Niedermayer didn’t touch the damn trophy.

    So, go Sens? Eh, whatever.

I’ll put some more thoughts together later.

Thanks for not being an ass about it.

I’m a bit surprised about not pulling Hasek, too, but the Wings never really got set up well on that last one and with the amount of time left, I can see why not to pull him. Easy to second-guess now.

Have to say the RED WINGS showed a lot of CHARACTER to come back as far as they did in the third down THREE GOALS …….. It is disappointing to have to say that DOM didn’t get it done tonight ….. one too many SNOW ANGELS in the CREASE ………. My HAT is off to the MANY WINGED WHEELERS who stepped up this”06-’07 season, and during the three play-off series. I can think of a lot of RED WINGS who became real MEN during the GRUELING three series. GO RED WINGS in ’07-’08!!!!!!!!!!!

AND GO SENATORS! Sorry ANAHEIM FANATICS, but the wound is still too fresh!

Thanks for being a good Sport ….. and I do believe that had the RED WINGS been able to set-up solid & in better control, and with about 25 more seconds remaining (for about 55 seconds total), BABCOCK most certainly would have pulled HASEK for extra attacker ……… The RED WINGS just couldn’t get things settled down in the DUCKS ZONE, and then with only 33 seconds remaining after that last whistle, there wasn’t time to make a second run at JSG & his net.

  • Still haven’t put any profound thoughts together but, like the scene of a car accident, I just can’t leave…

Trying to take some good away from this, hey, at least I get the $300 I spent on tickets to the possible Game One of the Finals back. That’ll also make it a lot easier to spend the long weekend working on the house.

    Nope, not an even trade.

It just hit my RSS reader that Bill at A2Y is referring to this as The Kick To The Groin. I disagree, it’s not as sudden as that, but I don’t have a better analogy of my own.

YEAH — the pain doesn’t go away easy, whatever it is — a kick in the groin — a slap in the face — or a trip a few feet from the FINISH LINE ….

I LOVE THIS TIME OF THE SEASON BECAUSE IT’S RED WING PLAY-OFF HOCKEY TIME — BUT I ALSO FIND IT TO BE HEART AND GUT WRENCHING WHEN IT ENDS SUDDENLY WITH NO SILVER CHALIS …………

HAVE A GOOD SUMMER EVERYONE — I”LL HANG AROUND ON HERE AND CHECK IN FROM TIME TO TIME — BUT FOR AWHILE I’M GOING TO HAVE TO LICK MY WOUNDS :)

  • Id like to thank hockey practice for helping me miss basically the whole round. No Red Wings for like EVER. Noooooooooooooooo. Stanley cup should be exciting though. I’m hoping Wings – Ducks is a new rivalry. Seems like it to me but only in playoffs. I mean we get to see Columbus and Chicago 16 times probably Anaheim once.
